At the Presbyterian Preschool, we believe that children grow through discovery play and an investigation of things in their world. We encourage the children to use pretend play and creative thinking, and provide them with opportunities for decision making and choices within appropriate limits. Through this approach, we strive to instill a love of learning in the children, to prepare them with the social skills they need to be successful, and to help them progress through developmental stages. Above all, our environment is where children are treated as individuals with love and respect, and where children learn to show love and respect for themselves and others.

The Presbyterian Preschool is for children ages 3-5 and meets 9:00 – 11:45 a.m. We also offer a Lunch-Bunch option from 11:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Click below for full information on enrollment options and fees for both the three-year-old and four-year-old classes. Preschool Staff
Stephanie Dysart
Director
Ms. Stephanie began as the Director and Head Teacher at the Presbyterian Preschool in 2008. Prior to that, she taught in public schools for nine years, teaching first and second grade and working as a reading specialist. She earned a BS degree in Sociology from Bridgewater College, and a Masters in Reading Education thru UVA.
Emily Moore
Assistant to the Director
Ms. Emily joined our staff in the fall of 2019. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education Interdisciplinary Studies from Liberty University. Her previous work experience includes day care settings and working with children who have special needs. We are delighted to have Ms. Emily as part of our program!
Morgan Whetzel
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
Ms. Morgan is an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for Shenandoah County Public Schools. The Presbyterian Preschool participates in a special needs inclusion model with the county school system, and is fortunate to have Ms. Morgan as part of our staff.
History of The Presbyterian Preschool
In 1976, Rebecca Moyer formally began a private preschool in the downstairs fellowship hall at the Woodstock Presbyterian Church. The preschool remained privately owned until 1990 when the church purchased the preschool and began operating the program as part of their community outreach program. Today, the preschool still operates in the downstairs fellowship hall. This longstanding program has been a well-known and well-respected preschool within the Shenandoah County area.
